user-pic  How to Be a Rock Star - Literally (Part 1)
By: Mark Joyner

It's official: in 2008 it will be easier to become a rock star than at any point in history.

By "rock star" we really mean "famous musician."  Whether you're into rock, classical, jazz, techno - whatever - it's now possible to go from "no one" to "star" sometimes literally overnight.

You don't need a label.  You don't need an agent.  You don't even need a huge budget.  (Some people do this on a zero-dollar ad budget.  It's crazy.  Read on ...)

We'll blog some jaw-dropping facts and case studies that prove this new phenomenon over the next few days as we lead up to the release of our newest course on 22 29 January 2008.  The course will show you in precise step-by-step detail everything from getting your music recorded to turning it into a #1 best-seller.

Meanwhile, here's how you can win free access to the course - and more.

In fact, four people will all win:

  • Free Access to Our New Course on Online Music Promotion
  • Free Access to Any Existing Simpleology Product You Don't Yet Own
  • Promotion of Your Video to Our Base of Over 250,000 Customers (yep, you read that right)

How to Enter

Just submit a video to Youtube telling us: "why I want to be famous" OR "why you want the world to hear your music."  Tell us in words or simply show us your music.

Rules:

1.  Video must be no longer than 5 minutes.

2.  Start your video by saying "My name is ____ and this is my entry for the OnlineMusicFame.com competition sponsored by Simpleology."  What happens after that is up to you.  (Hint:  there are no restrictions on the content.)

3.  Use this video title when uploading to youtube:  OnlineMusicFame.com Entry for YOUR NAME HERE.

4.  In the description for the video include a link to www.onlinemusicfame.com

There will be four seven winners picked under the following categories:

Funniest - Sassiest - Most Inspiring - Most Viewed
Best Performance Female - Best Performance Male - Best Performance Group

Winners will be announced on midnight January 21st EST at 8PM January 29th EST.

All entries must be in by midnight 28 January EST.

"Fame and immortality is yours.  Take it."

Once you've submitted your entry, keep your eye on this blog for case studies and facts.

Omg. LOL!!!!

Could the next course be on how to learn violin? :D

Note from MJ: Hi Zijian, sadly violin is the most difficult path to becoming a rock star ;-)

I guess it has always been every Musicians goal to find away around the system for a while now.

Myself I have been working on putting together this idea since July of last year and dabbling with the concept for Many years online.

My dot coms for the same concept have been registered ever since.

I guess my previous post makes more sense now....

As mentioned on: http://www.kachingtank.com/unleash-that-question/#comments

"Arnold Hugo Stolting Says:
January 10th, 2008 at 4:40 pm

What do you do, when you KNOW that you have an idea so BIG that it will affect an entire industry for millions of people for the better.

But you also know that it deserves much more than writing a simple eBook. Lets say your idea is so huge, that it deserves its own software comparable to butterfly marketing status or higher, its own networking website comparable to myspace, facebook, or youtube status, and it deserves Oprah Winfrey type promotion.

Yet you do not have the funds or resources to implement what is sure to be a world wide success.

What do you do, besides writing an eBook and watch someone else (with all the above mentioned resources) take your idea and make billions. While you only sell a few eBooks and made just a few bucks introducing the topic to the world?

Thanks Mark.

Sorry I was not able to make the question one short-ish sentence

Arnold Hugo Stolting"

So therefore I know for a fact that I can be of great input into this project as this is what I do every single day of my life.

Music And Promo Online.

However, I will release my own version soon as well of a similar course as I get enough people together in order to do a Mark Joyner type promotion.

Arnold Hugo Stolting.

Who doesn't want to be a rock star? I don't. In fact rather than be rich and famous I prefer the rich part. Living a quiet successful lifestyle without the concern for money is what I aspire to. So, for all those who covet fame you have one less person competing with you.

Note from MJ: AJF, attaining fame in any field will make the job of getting rich a lot easier. Yes, you can get the fame first.

Dang. I knew all these internet marketing and business principals could converge to create a liberation for artists - to not be a propaganda ploy & loose in the world is a delicious notion

Note from MJ: Silveen, you totally get it.

Hi Mark,

I'm exstatic that someone with as much influence as your good self has take hold of the 'Music Batton' and started to run with it.

I personally think that music, in all of it's forms has a 'vitally' important role in the very existence of our race on this planet.

Personally, I can't play or sing a note, but do I appreciate those who can? You bet.

Great idea, I hope it 'flies'. I think it's as important as your simpleology programme itself.

Cheers, Pete.

http://alternative-debt-solutions.com/The-chord.html

Note from MJ: Hey Pete, thanks for the vote of confidence! I couldn't agree more. I'm a fan of Bob Marley's belief that if you use music to inject love into someone's life you can disrupt the desire for conflict.

there are things that i really admire about you:

1- how you don't look for a need but u look for ways to create one.

2- your methods for promoting and marketing your business for free.

all the bests

Very interesting... I agree with the person above that fame isn't always the best answer. However, if you want to be a performer, fame is an essential part of the equation.

If you want thousands of people to see you perform, you're going to need thousands of people that know who you are. Ie. fame.

Without fame, you're looking at composing and licensing... Oftentimes more lucrative and less fame-y than performing.

All in all, I'm interested in seeing the program.

I write and perform comedy music, so to state the Bob Marley thought another way... "People don't kill each other when they're laughing."

This is perfect timing. At 70 my first CD just came from the manuf. and I've had it up for downloading on CDBaby and their digital partners for months but have not figured out how to increase traffic to them yet. I'm definitely taking your course.

Best,

Elli

Ok, this just looks too fun not to take part in!

Mark, a question. One of my parallel lives has been music all the way now into my 50s. I've been recording from the time of splicing tape to ProTools. So being that I'm involved in several musical groups, and helping my 19-yr old promote his group, can we enter multiple times? The convergence of ideas I'm seeing from you and others is great timing for me. Simpleology has been a tremendous help as I work through my other parallel modes including promoting my wife's gourd art, being a major acct exec for a fortune 500, and more to be revealed as I am re-inserting myself into the internet after being an early content builder 10 yrs ago. thanks so much Tony

Note from MJ: Hey Tony, convergence is right. It's everywhere we look these days, isn't it? At the same time, we're seeing specialization and differentiation. As for multiple entries, you can do one per "entity" - that is if you have several distinct groups you're involved in, each group can have its own entry. Of course, these have to be truly distinct groups that exist. Looking forward to watching!

Sounds awesome! I've believed for years that the internet would revolutionize the music industry.I look forward to seeing the program. I currently have a band and wonder how far we could go. Thanks. Capri

I own Simpleology 101, 102, 103, 7 Day Biz turnaround and WOMKI. Its like having a Virtual coach that you can have access to 24/7. The best part is whether you are Visual, kinesthetic or auditory, you will benefit and get great VALUE. I have no doubt that this product also will come up to your expectation. Thanks Mark!

Hey Mark,

Can we help we are focused and dedicated to helping the careers of indie musicians and promoting their music.

Paul

I know several people that need to see this. After seeing "August Rush" yesterday, I have renewed my belief in the power of music to change lives.

Hi, Mark

I'am new to Simple-ology, just eight days into 101, but I like what I am learning so far. The amount of great musicians and music out there is incredible, I will tell all my musician friends, About this Awesome opportunity. I can relate to ( Hugo Above ) I am in the same position, But for a real estate Internet revoltion, I believe the Internet is in its infancy and I am onboard for its growth!

Mark,

You continually amaze me with the breadth of stuff you cover through Simpleology. You must have a huge team to help you (that or enormous networks).
This is a really neat idea.
Thanks very much for Simpleology.

Note from MJ: You're very kind :-) And all the credit goes to my amazing team.

Omg. LOL!!!!

Good thing I chose the French Horn and Jazz!

(no, really, that's what I do!)

:-D

Looking forward to the launch. I've never really had the dream to become a rockstar, but with this course maybe it'll be something that I can work towards.

Keep the great content coming Mark.

Jon

Looking forward to this too . My passion is getting amazing indie artists out there . The ones you hear and just think ' wow, how is it they're not out there and huge ' , before sitting back to remember how much the odds are stacked against them in the music industry . Put up my vid now ! Great work Mark!

Thanks for great information. I think this is very interesting and look forward what will happen next.

Regards,

I'm an indie label owner and front-man for a positive rock band and I've benefited so much from Simpleology 101 and 102 that I will def. submit to this!!!! Keep it coming, Mark! And look out for my submission!!!!

Hi Mark,

I am glad you opened this contest up for people who at the moment have no videos. Well just take a look at www.labialovers.com and you can see where the potential is ... and this is just the beginning.

I am eager to get into the position of becoming the next big thing in music business ... so hand me the fame and the money ... think I could handle both of them *lol*

Your friend from Germany

Patrick aka Pat Stick

Hi M.Joyner !!!

As céline Dion sings, love can move mountains and your simpleology course give me the tools to achive anything I want and I want to marry a girl and have babies.
In order to do that as set up my ultimate goal as you taught.

Consequently with my backward cockpit I have to hit the goal of be one of the 7 finalists in this contest.

I will sing a song ``A capella``who is going to be a marriage demand written by me and qué seras seras, will see what happens.

Thanks,yours truly,Carol.

Good-Heavens Mark,
I love music.
It seems to be the universal language.

There is a lot of very beautiful music around ignored by the "big" promoters, because it does not "fit".
Lo and behold, Simpleology is like a spaceship to the rescue of that ignored beautiful music.

I am rereminded of a safari
tour in the game-parks of east africa, amboseli game reserve, when two of my colleagues very adept at flutes, went at it. All the animals as far as the eye could see, stopped moving and even stopped munching the grass. The chirping birds went silent and moved closer.
It was unreal, incredible.

Yes, the gentle power of real music.

Please Mark,at times I wonder if Simpleology originates outside the physical realm, because it is a superb self-development tool and at same time a fantastic money making tool. It is liberating.
Well done brother!

I don't sing, and I play the piano-- 1 Christmas song! But I do write and I see that as my music. I'm wondering if any of this course would apply? Guess I'll read and watch to find out.

Hi, I am writing in on the behalf of my son that is unaware what I am doing. He has taught himself how to play base guitar and has been on youtube. He has ADHD and we have been separated through a parental divorse. We have only started to find out our personal stories to each other. We have not been together for 20 years. Attempting to help my son get started.

Hi :)

My name is Debbie, and if I can get someone to videotape me while I'm performing at my regular gig (singing and playing piano) this evening, I will have an entry that promises to be inspiring. Let the Universe deliver!

Debbie Kutz :)

I have been filmed, by my digital camera in movie mode, and quickly filled the 349 seconds. My son will help me post it to youtube tomorrow. This is definitely exciting! In the meantime, because you wanted to know...

Why I Enjoy Being Rich and Famous, by Debbie Kutz, 1-29-09

My how life has blossomed for me. I have met and will continue to meet some of the finest musicians/people that have contributed mightily to who I am. Billy Joel, who finally found out we share a May 9th birthday, Elton John, Bruce Hornsby, and Paul McCartney to name just 4 on my list of 100's. Singing songs written by the likes of Diane Warren, Carole King, and Christine McVie, and so many others, is a source of constant inspiration. I actually got to meet, and be critiqued by Paula, Randy, and Simon. Simon has even expressed interest in furthering my career...

I get to bring family and friends anywhere, at a moment's notice, and live life without limitations. I recently acquired a deluxe skybox at Lambeau Field. I've still got 100's of songs that I am thrilled to be recording, in fantastic studios around the world. I own a Mason & Hamlin Grand. I am sharing my music in a big way. I've been told it is unforgettable, goosebump evoking, and endlessly pleasureable. I can feel my talent ever-evolving, and there is so much to look forward to.

I am having so much FUN with money, first class all the way! I am sharing my FUN with everyone in a big way. I am shining in all my endeavors, and allowing the best of me to live my life. I get regular bookings to play and sing for people like Oprah, James Taylor, and Esther and Jerry Hicks.

I was thrilled to take all the Abraham lovers I could find, on the last Abe cruise to Hawaii. I've embraced wholeheartedly the perks that come with fame, and there are plenty of perks! It's easy to find more and more ways to enjoy life with money. I now play, sing, and support the life of those I love through my love of performing beautiful music. I am resonating with the chords of possibility, magic, and happiness, all because I shared the gift of my song.

Here's to Dreams Come True for All of Us!

Debbie Kutz :)

You have an important problem with your contest Mark. In the original rules you said specifically to include the following TAGS: " rock star competition contest online music downloads promotion ".
Also you said specifically to use this title ..."OnlineMusicFame.com Entry for YOUR NAME HERE."
So HOW will you know who entered your contest? You will search those tags or that Title and you will get a list of videos and those are the entries that did what the rules said. But I see many entries that did not use those tags or that title so guess what?
There is a GREAT lesson here folks. When you do a search on youtube the search engine looks at your tags. If you do not use the correct tags then nobody is ever going to find you. You will be invisible.

Note from MJ: If you search for "onlinemusicfame.com" on youtube, any entry will show up. From the beginning we asked folks to include that in the descrption, that hasn't changed. Every entry will be found.

"Note from MJ: If you search for "onlinemusicfame.com" on youtube, any entry will show up. From the beginning we asked folks to include that in the descrption, that hasn't changed. Every entry will be found."

I stand corrected Mark. That is different than I was taught and excellent information. I just did a search as you suggested with just "onlinemusicfame.com" and it returned a complete list of videos.
Thanks
Murray

Note from MJ: Hey Murray, excellent :-)

Anyone have any suggestions on easy to use software (that is downloadable) to take an mp3 recording and add visuals (video, pics, etc.) to make a video in less than 2 days?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Juliet If you have a Windows PC you might already have a copy of windows movie maker on your computer. If not, search for it on google and download it for free.

Check your computer though.

We did this one with just images and ran an mp3 behind it. As a sample for others to see what can be done with a great tune but no video, on a lower budget.

New Orleans was left abandoned for five days after Hurricane Katrina battered the Gulf Coast in August 2005. It is over two years later and we are still in trouble down here. You don't abandon a sinking ship and many of us musicians have vowed to stay. Thank you for this opportunity. Peace,
Susan Cowsill

Hey Mark,

I just uploaded my video to youtube. I'm very excited about this contest and kudos to you for recognizing the importance of music and musicians. Thanks!!

Hi Mark!

Thanks for putting on this contest.

I'm happy to report that after a long day of learning the ways of digital video, I have finally uploaded my video entry to youtube! (Hey I'm a musician not a movie editor!)

The video is not yet showing up when I search youtube but hopefully it will come up soon. In case it doesn't, here's a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU8vOIMtfs0

I look forward to learning more about your efforts to turn the music biz on its head. :)

Peace

A

Note from MJ: Hey Anthony, good call posting here! I'm going to watch your video now. This is why we put the cut off at midnight - so we can give the videos time to show up on youtube ...

I put up my video this afternoon but it's still not showing up in a search....I'm not sure why. Here is the link:

I just uploaded my video (I never created a video before today as my post above will attest). I had read your blog post above about 5 times and thought the deadline was 8PM on 1/29 and just noticed it was at midnight on 1/28- eeks! I hope it is not too late! The video is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylLFCD4Gkas

Please let me be included, Mark!! I let a lot of musicians in Athens, GA know about your contest today, so hopefully you will have a lot of new Simpleology clients!

Thanks,
Juliet Easton

Note from MJ: Hey Juliet, we're going to do our level best to look at every video posted up to the last minute, but please remember we have to give a final decision at some point as well. Now that I see yours here I'll be sure to take a look!

Double eeks!
Mark, we've been working non-stop for the past two days to finish our video, from the band gopher gods.

Unfortunately, we lost internet connection tonite just before the upload....VERY frustrating, as you might imagine..
We've never done a video before, and put tons of hard work into it. I hope the video can still be included in the onlinemusicfame.com competition.

Best to you and Simpleology for great work, and a great idea with this competition.

Out intention is to reach tons of people with this song/video and our music.
We believe, like you, that music is a powerful tool for transformation, and positive change in our world.

thanks,
David

Note from MJ: He David, if we see it on youtube tomorrow morning we'll consider it. But please remember we're running out of time to judge, too. "God speed, sir."
