user-pic  "Hack" Into the Human Mind and Type in any Command
By: Mark Joyner

Today we're releasing my first #1 best-seller (Mind Control Marketing) in ebook form (along with the controversial "Missing Chapter").

Since I let it go out of print a few years ago, used and tattered copies of the book have been sold on Amazon Marketplace and Ebay for $100 to $500.

But you can now download the same information instantly.

What is it?

Well, basically it's a "hacker's manual" into the human brain.

Computer hackers look for hidden loopholes where they can sneak their way into computers and get the computers to do their bidding.

Practitioners of Mind Control Marketing do this with the human brain.

And they use this not just to get people to fork over money to buy products, but also to influence people to do anything (ranging from seduction to sedition).

(If you are wondering why I made the decision to make this information public again, I address this in the intro to the ebook version, and in the Missing Chapter.)

Now, here's a little demonstration of one of the simpler "hacks" you can use to get people to do what you want ...

Imagine that you want to borrow $20 from someone.  How likely are they to say yes?

What if you could get them to say yes almost every time?

Try this ...

1.  Select someone you know, but that isn't a "best friend" (a best friend is too easy - and there are other tactics you need to use for strangers - you'll see when you read MCM).

2.  Tell them you're in a really tough financial situation and that you really need their help.

3.  After you make your situation clear say, "Look I'm $1,000 short on my rent this month, can I borrow it from you?  I promise I'll pay you back next month."

4.  They are very likely to say no unless they have lots of money and are really close friends.

5.  After they say no say, "OK, I totally understand and I don't blame you at all.   How about just 20 bucks then?"

Chances are extremely high that they will say "yes" to the 20 dollars.  If you had simply asked directly, the likelihood of getting a "yes" would have been much lower.

This is what's known as the "Door in the Face Technique."

It's simple:  if you want someone to comply with a request, ask them for something outrageously huge first - then ask for what you really want.

It works like a charm.  Well, "charms" don't really work, do they?  This does.

The applications of this simple technique are limitless.   If you can imagine an interesting one, please share it with us in the "comments" section of this post.

This is but one of a great many "loopholes" into the human mind that you can exploit immediately to get people to do whatever you want.

Is it unfair to have this advantage?

I'll leave that for you to discuss.  Meanwhile, I'm making this information public once again for now.

Wow, My wife has been using mind control for years. She takes me out to look at furnitire and first takes me to the most expensive place and shows me the most expensive furniture that she feels we just must have. I feel bad but tell her this is just not going to happen. She says OK but lets take a look at the other place on the way home. Low and behold the price is incredibly lower and she likes it just as much. I can hardly wait to get my wallet out before she changes her mind. Hmmm! Sounds like I may need to re-think my copy on FreePrinters.com http://www.FreePrinters.com

As the tactics suggest, is easy to use and practical.

Yes , this works, but it requires tact to handle such a situation, its not always money that you want to borrow, it could be approvals, sanctions, or simply asking a VIP to inagurate a function etc.

Hi, Mark

Have just bought the MCM ebook. Looking forward to making good use of what I learn. Thanks for The Irresistible Offer in the bonuses, btw - replaces the one I couldn't get open when I wanted to read it last week!

Best wishes.

I suppose this is the very reason car salesmen(or women)show you the most expensive cars on the lot first. Hey... I wonder if this technique could be use to sell on the internet? hmmmm...

I used to use a similar tactic in retail. Have someone try on a dress which is guaranteed to make them look 40 pounds overweight and lacking in colour, and then let them try something that is flattering. Guaranteed sales!

Hi Mark,

Just curious... I am thinking that a lot of your techniques in MCM would be based on Dr Cialdini's revelations in his seminal work 'Influence'. Am I about right?

Anyway yes, the technique you have described in this post is extremely powerful. I have used it many times for various purposes (never nefarious though, dun worry). In fact, the "human mind programming" behind this technique was solely responsible for the occurence of the Watergate incident.

Cheers!
:D

Note from MJ: Hi Andy, actually no. Most of these techniques are not included Cialdin's work at all and I wrote MCM long before I was exposed to Cialdini. Also, nothing would be "based" on his work as such - Cialdini didn't actually invent any techniques, but compiled and dissected them - albeit in wonderful and brilliant ways. It's a superb book, and most certainly not the first or only book on persuasion and influence - it's one of a great many. Besides the techniques being very different, the major difference between Cialdini's work and mine is that he is an academic where as I'm most interested in helping people use the ideas in a functional way as quickly as possible. You can read MCM in a single sitting and leave with many new understandings.

Of course it will, just watch an infomercial.

My husband and I used this tactic successfully to extend our house in an area of Switzerland where you are absolutely not allowed to make your house any bigger.
Maybe I'll use it on my website. Offer some top end product at an outrageous amount so my normal service prices look like a give away.

When I was on the road selling highly priced electronic welding equipment, I pitched my heart out selling our $850,000.00 equipment (which did not exist). I knew he needed it but the price was out of his reach. I then sat him down and made him PROMISE not to tell a soul what I was about to tell him.
"John, I've done what my boss expects of me and that's to sell model 850. This week I've sold two model 850's and made my quota for the month. We have another machine that does exactly what the 850 does and some of my clients tell me it's even better! There is on BIG difference though. The handle is red, not yellow and it sells for $290,000.00
Did I make a few sales? You betcha!

Note from MJ: Hey Lawrence, I certainly wouldn't recommend using the technique in this way. Pitching people on a product that doesn't exist is not only deceptive - it's not necessary. I bet your company could have found a way to use the same psychological tactic in a truthful way and you would have been just as successful - perhaps more so. Persuasion can definitely be used without outright deception.

I should say it's effective - after passing up offers for programs on your side in the triple digits, $27 seems like a great bargain!!!

"The handle is red, not yellow and it sells for $290,000.00"

Haha, that's just plain evil ;-)

Knowing what makes a man 'tick' means knowing yourself, as a humanly-made-creature-of-God- on Earth- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

ONLY THEN, can you communicate with God to truly serve Him and create for Him benefits for mankind.

I just finished the "missing Chapter" and that alone is worth the measly $27 for the book. After reading, it, however, I'm starting to find many correlations between simpleology and the "cult" concept you discuss. Of course you've set up simpleology in all the right ways, so it's not a cult, but you SURE have a following. This is SO fascinating, I can't stand it!

Another job well done!
-Lisa

Note from MJ: Hey Lisa, you're learning! Any organization - that means any company or any group - is going to share some of the same characteristics as a cult. Make the same comparison to your place of work, your church, a social group you belong to. The difference, to me, is the method of coercion. If the group threatens to punish you for leaving, or threatens to take things away from you for leaving, then I think we're mosying into cultsville. If the group lets you come and go freely and respects everyone's opinions, then its healthier. But you're very right - and I challenge everyone to read that chapter and compare the methods to every organization to which they belong. This will then free the mind to make better decisions, I believe.

I've been encouraging my partners to make mods on our website based on this technique (any suggestions would be welcomed!)-it's an old standard of mine, and worked marvelously by the way. I could just find no way to share it with my staff in a simple, understandable way.
I look forward to your book, Mark, as you have the gift of simplifying the complex and bringing the etheric down to earth!

Mark, maybe our President should use some of these tactics to get oil producing countries to increase oil flow and lower oil prices. In any case I will check out your book. It seems really cool.

Many blessings,

Art Gonzalez

Note from MJ: Hey Art and maybe *we* should start using them on our governments, and in the private sector, to get folks to take alternative fuels more seriously. Just a random thought for you to agitate the noggin.

Hi
I just thank you,Mark

Got MCM before rehearsal, could barely tear myself away & then back super late but up even later reading, reading. Wonderful concepts, brilliant & all good. A great unexpected compliment to the Online Music course. Kudos 2 YOu, Mr. Joyner!

Hi Mark:

I've found out many people will believe a lie ...and many times will not believe the truth. What do you think about this...? ...seems to depend on who's saying it??
Anyway, this is what I've found out when telling people the truth about MLMs (or Network Marketing). Comments?? Maybe I need to re-due my free info, in http://powerbycarleton.therenegadenetworkmarketer.com but I still believe, the truth -- Large or Small -- is always best!
Always go another mile with better service/product for less cost -- value!

As Always...
Best of the Best!
Carleton

Note from MJ: Hi Carleton, without question the truth is always a healthier path - not just for the people to whom we are speaking, but also for our own mental health. We have to be careful, though, in remembering that perhaps what we believe to be true may in fact be totally wrong. So, just because someone disagrees doesn't mean they believe a "lie."

I think my son learned that tactic before he turned 6. :) Can't wait to get your book.

I'm really appreciating the simplicity of your writing in MCM, the concepts are clear and accessible distillations of what can be evidenced via empirical observation. And you make sure that the concepts clear translate into marketing-actions. Mind Control Marketing is just great for any marketer and promoter, but also provides great strategies for a parent dealing with a difficult teen. Two thumbs up!

Regarding the comment that Mark made to Lisa's input.
Well, quite honestly, taking that advice right down into individual relationships in the social group. It could very well make an important difference in decision making and choices made.

Absolutely mind - blowing !

A light bulb sprang to life in my head as I read this simple yet profound little persuasion tactic .

Makes me want to buy your book to see what other little goodies you might have hidden in there .

The awesome thing is that these tactics can even be used to ethically help someone to make a decision that empowers them that they wouldn't make otherwise without a little covert persuasion .

Definitely going to add this to the other self empowerment methods I use to help people to master the art of happiness on my website .

Thanks again , Mark

It can and does work but you have to be tactful to make it work for you.

Brilliant! This is something to be read again and again!

Mark, ever consider running for office? If not, maybe you can do a lot of favor by sending this book to those in the office.

The US is facing tough times ahead...seriously, you should consider running for office. Or if not, join the advisory team.

I bought my copy of MCM yesterday, and read about half of it straighaway. As a former student of consumer behaviour and psychology I found fresh new thinking that I'm very glad I invested in.

Cheers Mark.

Rob

I have been unconciously using this technique since I was a kid. With more than 30 years experience I know it works!

Posted by: Thomas Goka | April 11, 2008 6:40 AM

Just gotta be careful not to wander into the territory of "deceipt"... for example, the comment about the welding equipment... but yeah, very useful stuff. Fascinating!

Ben

P.S. I can't believe someone actually spammed this discussion with a plug for their MLM program.

That's pretty low.

I was chatting to a wise old coot of a salesman a few years ago. He sold Encyclopaedia Brittanica door to door, quite successfully I believe. He described how they had 3 versions of the same product, the really expensive real leather bound version, the reaaly cheap nasty cover version and the middle of the road. Guess which one outsold the others by far? Yes the middle one. The outrageously expensive one made them want it, the cheap one was nasty looking so everyone happily paid for the middle one.
BUT, without the expensive set they wouldn't have sold half as many of the middle set!
Exactly this technique in action.
I have sometimes used this in sales, it great to create demand for a regular product by showing its features on a higher priced product first.

Posted by: Brendan O | April 16, 2008 4:05 AM

but do you hack into their brains or into their conditioned-response-architecture?
Whatever it is, this MCM is an ephiphany of hope and confidence. Says positive and content rich information can/will trump the nefarious puppetmasters looming in our midst.

I recommend this book to all kinds of friends.

The cult thing in the missing chapter does apply to MLM's. When they're predicated on fairy tales, devoid of real business practices, a culture of professionalism. Rther: counting on positive affirmations; frequent involvement with an upline, website or conference call; a list to contact, scripts and a telephone, and a whole lotta faith.

Rise of the Author. I've been telling my indie friends about it and how it directs what to do about the window that is now. Originality + decentralized media = freedom
and there are tools in place 2 facilitate

It was an engaging meaty read like rich rye bread or homemade stout - rich, full of implications.

THank you.

This technique is abundantly used in the time-sharing selling industry.
They always, always show you the most expensive, luxurious and biggest condominium they have available, normally one selling in the 6-figure range.
Then, when you gasp and of course say it's completely out of your reach, then they show you another one, with almost the same characteristics, but selling in the high 5-figure range.
When you gasp again and say it's too much, then they call "their supervisor or manager" who has a great offer because of a sale that didn't go thru.
Then, in a conspirational tone, the manager (really, the closer) shows you a great unit that "normally would sell for $50,000 but now we can give it to you for only two payments of $14,500"
Think they sell a lot?

Jorge Pinkus
Your Maximum Success Coach

Whoa! That's just silly, selling an item that doesn't exist.

What if somebody went for it?

Certainly there were some kind of puffy extras you could have touted-- superextended warranties, for example?

It seems to me that you should always be ready for the amazing success.

BTW this (making an extreme request) is a great way of sugarcoating when you say "No"-- just "No, I am not going to do that. But hey, I'm looking for somebody that could front me ten grand, no questions asked." They say no and feel like they've had their revenge!
