The 4 Investments: Part 2
By: Mark Joyner
This is one smart crowd.
The replies to my challenge question are mostly right on the money. (we're drawing 5 winners randomly so please keep the replies coming)
Everyone's pretty much right ... Who can really say what the actual 4 are?
It's a question with no "right" answer.
I have my definite preference for "the 4" and I have a strong case to back them up - and I'll reveal that next week when we launch the club - but there's a bigger question ...
If you know what 4 areas in which to invest, how do you do it?
This is a really important question - the answer to which holds the key to just about anything you want.
First, how not to make those investments:
- scatter yourself to the wind and do everything at once
- try this - then try that - and then try something else - never sticking to anything long enough for it to work
Sounds obvious, but that's what we all do.
The solution is in a Japanese word: kaizen.
It means "continuous improvement."
Change can happen to us suddenly - if, for example, we experience a profound event. But if we want to cause the change to happen, we kind of need to sneak up on ourselves.
Kaizen is all about sneaking up on yourself to make gradual changes.
The beauty is that those gradual changes over time can add up to something profoundly huge. It's sort of like the "compound interest" of your life.
For example, there is a man in Reno who lost 35 pounds in 6 months just by making one tiny adjustment to his life: he stopped driving and started walking to work every day.
That's it. He did nothing else at all.
He didn't live far from work. The walk was on a totally flat surface. But this single change had a profound impact on him.
He later went on to become a serious athlete.
If he hadn't made that simple change - and more importantly if he hadn't stuck with it - his life would have been extremely different.
Kaizen.
Another man in Seattle lost 50 pounds of body fat by making another simple change: instead of eating at Burger King every day he started having his lunch at a salad buffet.
What if you could find other simple changes in your life that could have an impact on your money? Your ...
(not so fast - I'm not ready to reveal "the four" yet ...)
All this sounds great, but the problem is:
a. You need to know the right changes to make (some are more or less effective ... some are more or less difficult ... you want the easy and effective ones, right?)
b. You need to know how to make them stick
We're getting dangerously close to learning about what this new club is all about.
Stay tuned.
It all happens on Wednesday.

The 4 investments -
1. Invest in yourself
2. Invest in life
3. Invest in others
4. Invest in nature
Invest in your health.
Invest in your family.
Invest in your happiness.
Invest in your education.
4 Investments:
1. Yourself
2. Your health
3. Your family/friends
4. Others
Invest in your character.
Invest by developing the right habits to move you the path of your dreams.
Invest is setting an example for your children to follow.
Invest in leaving an inheritance for your family including a good name.
Happiness
Fulfillment
Knowledge
Relationships
Everything I do is an investment in myself in some manner, be it a positive or negative impact.
Breaking it down I would say four areas of investment might be:
~ well being
~ knowledge
~ money game
~ goodwill
I am certain you have a more brilliant formula!
1. God
2. Others
(the above 2 are the only 2 investments we can take with us into eternity)
3. our Mental (learning)
4. our Physical
This explains why I can't get the "Kaizen club" link to work when I click on it.
In the automotive field (where I spend a few years of my life) Kaizen is a mantra. Whole systems for quality and customer satisfaction are built around it. It's a way of life.
Everything is scrutinized for ways to make it better - incrementally - on an ongoing basis.
So when you invest in your mind, body, spirit and talent, you being to reap those benefits.
1. How to optimize learning
2. How to optimize use of time
3. How to become more accurate at predicting future trends - wouldn't everyone love to have a crystal ball. I believe it is a skill that can be improved.
4. How to optimize risk evaluation, risk taking and risk mitigation will lead to great decision making in all the areas which reward risk
friends and family
career
learning
spirituality
how? schedule time for each.
I don't know what the four are, but this sounds like using the process in simpleology and increasing our time, money, and energy power. Could this be simpleology 2.0? I know that I get a ton done when I actually follow my daily praxis every day (I actually got to the point once that I had no idea what to put in my praxis one day because I had gotten everything done that I wanted and never planned anything further because I never usually got that far).
Whatever you're doing Mark, I'm sure it's going to be real interesting, and can't wait to see what it is!

This has been some great reading; Mark and everyone else's posts.
My thoughts were resounding
Yourself by that I mean your education and personal development.
Your business
Tangible assests such as real estate, land, gold or oil to build your wealth. And finally,
Leverage when you build passive income sources, utilise compounding or use your tangible assests to further build wealth.
MY TOP 4...
1. SPIRITUAL
2. FAMILY
3. HEALTH
4. KNOWLEDGE
1. Learning
2. Health
3. Love
4. Money
What's the solution to NOT "scattering yourself to the wind and doing everything at once?"
What else can we do to NOT "try this - then try that -and then try something else - never sticking to anything long enough for it to work?"
The solution is to FOCUS.
So the micro-niche in Personal Development, and even Business Expansion is to FIRST learn how to FOCUS!
Mark talks about "Kaizen" which is to make continuous improvement. This sounds, if not very similiar, to a book I read written by Jeff Olsen called "The Slight Edge".
Each decision, step and choice we make everyday has an incremental effect on us, eventually. Maybe not the next day, week, month or year but if we continue to make the same consecutive (and consistent) choices, we will have the life (or business) WE HAVE CREATED!
My choice of the top 4 trends are:
1. Personal Focus
2. Continuity Programs
3. Well-Being (can include Health, Mental, Physical, Spiritual, etc. - which would be micro-niches)
4. Critical Thinking (a micro-niche of not only acquiring the KNOWLEDGE but sifting through that knowledge to analyze, comprehend, and being critical of making hasty, emotional, judgemental decisions)
Scott Lucas
1. God
2. Humanity
3. Family
4. Health
1. Invest in determining where your true passion lies.
2. Invest in educating yourself to become a "specialist" in that field of endeavour.
3. Invest in mastering Direct Response Marketing
to deliver that product or service in a masterful and profitable manner.
4. Invest in Simpleology 101 and work within that framework to maximize your 3 sources of power and simply hit it until you hit it.
1. God
2. Family
3. Work
4. Others
My personal choices as these will help and allow you to contribute more towards society:
1) invest in making yourself continuously a better person
2) invest in making yourself financial free
3) Invest in your relationship with all
4) invest in spirituality
I know that I am now really anxious to find out just what they are!
1. Manage time. Work 1 hour late into night, and try starting 1 hour early.
2. When you work more & smart you need healthy mind & body. Meditation, yoga & eating light/right.
3. Daily Personal development importantly communication and finances which will keep you safe away from problems.
4. Learn how to daily earn more friends. That is Networking.
1/ self - attitude, discipline, belief, trust/faith, knowledge & experience, & connecting spiritually with the universe;
2/ others - sharing, coaching, mentoring & relationships-family & friends;
3/ business - copywriting, outscourcing, networking; team building, online, offline etc; &
4/ time - planning, organising, management & living life.
- daily habits
- personal focus
- goal
- priority
1)Desire/Intention/Thought (i.e. Goals/Passions)
2)Focus/Attention (i.e. Awareness)
Correct 3)Practice/Repetition (i.e. Action/Application)
4)Review/Check Results
(i.e. Assessment -- How close are we in relation to our or original Goals?)
Each of these feed into the overall meta-concept of our personal CONFIDENCE & SELF-ESTEEM... thereby giving us the motivation run this cycle over (and over) again... to whatever effect we desire.
I see these 4 as the PRIMARY "investment" components from which all other developments and manipulations in time, space, form, personal energy, money, education, ability, relationships, spirituality, etc... (ad infinitum)... can be effectively made.
Cheers & Thanks for the opportunity to stop, reflect, "dig deep," and ruminate on this topic to the best of my abilities...
Good Luck to Everyone -- and THANKS MARK! for Bringing Out the BEST in Me~!!! (ONCE AGAIN...)
1. Learning - never stop learing
2. Earning - generate income from multiple streams
3. Teaching - share your learnings and earnings with others to help them benefit

There's only one thing to invest in and that's health. The four components to that investment are
1. Mental
2. Physical
3. Spiritual
4. Emotional
By doing certain things we improve our health in each of those areas. For example; by investing the right amount of time in income generation we can improve our health, by investing too much or too little then we can weaken our health. The same applies to exercise, to eating, to socialising etc and even to prayer. So, we need to balance the amount of time and energy and anyhing else that we put into things in all our pursuits in order to ensure that we are investing in the positive development of all four aspects of health.
The admonitions of Paul:
If there is anything virtious, lovely,of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
For Me, Health is all important, for we are at a very serious disadvantage without good health, & that is comprised of:
(a)Physical- keeping our bodies in good shape.
(b)Intellectual - seeking to follow in the footsteps of successful people.
(c)Emotional - we need stability in our lives.
(d)Spiritual - which completes a well-rounded person.
We need to invest in ALL FOUR of these aspects of our lives.
4 best investments?
mind
body
spirit
and family
4 investments :
life
relationship
skills/talent
money
Mark,
Haven't you already revealed to us what the four things are? Simpleology - The simple science of getting what you want. My straightline guess :
1. A defined Life Purpose That gives meaning to your life and goals. (investment in self.)
2. Consistant action Toward Purposes daily.
(investment in Action)
3. Educating yourself on how to achieve life pupose/goals. (investment in education.)
4. Increasing your personal power- time, energy, and money. (investment in Leverage.)
Yours to Kaizen,
David Berube
Invest in Spiritual Growth
Invest in yourself with heath and knowledge
Invest in relationships
Invest in others by mentoring
1. Invest in your continuing education
2. Invest time in activity toward your purpose
3. Invest time and energy spent with your family
4. Invest your time and money in giving to others.
1) Physical Health - Our physical body is the house for our soul. Without a healthy body, we are not able to do all that we would like to do or achieve.
2) Soul (Emotional aspect) - Only when we learn to tap into our strength & power within are we able to achieve peace & emotional stability.
3) Mind (Mental aspect) - Our thoughts determine our feelings which in turn determine our actions which become our results. Our results in life (bad or good) are merely a reflection of what goes on in our mind, therefore, investing in our mind through education is absolutely necessary.
4) Relationships (family, friends - network)- No man is an island. Investing in positive relationships & network will provide us with the support we need when we are faced with tough times.
"If we want to change the world, we must first change or master ourselves."
I think the 4 domains are:
1.Knowledge
2.Time
3.Energy
4.Money
In no specific order
1. Mind
2. Body
3. Spirit
4. Talent
Hi Mark,
Just keeping up with you requires a sizable investment of time! Anyway, aside from that I would venture to list the following as vital areas of investment.
1. Invest in the process of gaining clarity (the ability to clearly set ones course)
2. Invest in mastering the art of focused attention (the ability to stay the course and not get distracted)
3. Invest time in discovering continuous, gradual, small improvements that will accelerate the accomplishment and attainment of an intended target (in the areas of knowledge, education, practice, experience, experimentation, mastermind, mentoring, etc)
4. Invest in decisions that strengthen, not weaken, ones power to accomplish ones chosen purpose
Hey, come what may, this was a great exercise in giving some serious thought to what each of us consider to be the most important areas in which to invest our time, energy and money.
Looking forward to the unveiling,
Alan

1. Invest in your own curiosity...life is ever changing so be open to all of it

3. Invest in others...every single human on this vast planet has his/her own unique traits. Support others in thier dreams and you will find yourself supported in yours. In the end it's all about the cycle of giving and receiving.
4. Invest in gratitude...Everday be grateful for what you have and what you have experienced. And don't forget to thank those around you...whether it's your family, friends or the bus driver. They have all lent a helping hand in their own way to get you where you are today.

I would not know what that throwing yourself to the wind means, as long as it is not money that you're throwing away (unless you have oodles of it for that matter). Anyway, here are the 4 things I believe we should put most of our time, passion and energy into and these are the same questions we should ask ourselves each day:
l) What skills do we have or those that we want developed and that includes our communication skills, our business acumen, and our means of daily survival with regards to our physical, mental, emotional, and financial state.
2) What activities would lead us toward the fulfillment of our most cherished dream? Or how do we take ourselves away from our present circumstances into our future self-image or the picture of what we want to BEcome.
3) What instances may there be which could affect our everyday-ness in which case we need to have something ready/handy when an emergency arises - i.e. health problems, accidents, disasters, etc.
4) What are the necessary paperworks to prepare for our loved ones? These would include wills and testaments, legacy and inheritance, and last but not the least death and burial funds - yes, we do have to be ready for such eventualities in our lives.
These 4 things are not as easy to implement as they seem to be, in which case there is a need to emphasize in using our time+talent+treasure=total well-being. Many a times we think that we would like to give up but that is not even an option. We just have to keep moving on and doing our best in promoting good deeds to our immediate environment and to the world.
Only 4 investments:
1. Invest in your own sense of generosity until it expands to include not only all of humanity but the whole of the universe.
2. Invest in your fellow beings, making their lives better in whatever ways you can.
3. Invest in your planet by creating harmony with, between, and among the occupants and the environment that it may support you and your descendants for as long as the life of the planet, and not merely for your lifetime.
4. Invest in the exploration of knowledge in the hope that something that you do, or something that someone touched by your existence will endure to the betterment of the universe, starting with peace and harmony on earth and into the infinite.
I may only be the butterfly, but I have dreams of snowdrifts on Fujiyama.
