It’s Here (Sneak Peek Inside)

OK folks, 4.0 is here … I have a few quick notes about what to expect, but first here’s a little teaser about what you’ll see when you log in to the new Simpleology for the first time.

(video will appear in a giant pop up for high res viewing)

Notes:

1.  Keep your eyes peeled for your invitation.  The first group will be the folks we selected from the last blog post, then we’ll start sending the invitations to 10,000 users at a time.

2.  As we send out the invitations we’ll be keeping an eye on customer feedback very closely, rapidly making additional improvements and solving problems.

3.  If you experience any trouble at all during the upgrade, please don’t hesitate to submit a ticket to our help desk.

4.  Finally, remember that this is just the beginning of a new era.  This new interface packs some pretty serious punch already, but there is much much more to come.

Update: Hey guys, everyone has been sending great feedback. I’m keeping a running tally of all issues resolved and all suggested changes implemented. You can view that here.
I’ll update it every day.

    Hey Mark,

You guys are always going the extra mile in providing the best marketing and training information – in my humble opinion – and it just seems natural that you would continue to improve your website to stay with the needs of your “trainees” so you can continue to offer them the very best.

    A true fan,

Okay… here it goes.  I’ve just gotten my feet barely wet in Simpleology 4.0, but really like what I see.  The immediate change is the new look to the page; it has a crisp and straightforward feel to it from the moment you get in.  But it’s the details that are really interesting.  First, navigation is much easier, especially in “Start My Day.”  With no prior knowledge of the new interface, I was able to get through the module in a fraction of the time of the 3.0 version.  You do need to get used to new icons, but the flexibility in the new version is phenomenal.”Mental Lock Box” becomes “Do Later,” which just seems like a more simple and easy to understand name and the interface is much easier to navigate and organize.

Also, huge for me as I currently have been using “Lists” for this, you can decide to make tasks reoccurring from within “Start My Day.”  I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m guessing that I’m just going to have to transfer my lists into SMD one more time and set them up for reoccurring each week.  Really like this overdue feature to accommodate those key tasks that are important enough to be regular targets for me each week.

Another really big thing for me are the improvements to subtasks.  When I brainstorm, I’m usually in the groove to backward plan my way through the larger task, but in 3.0 there wasn’t a good way to do this without just adding a bunch of separate tasks.  No more!  4.0 allows users to add and edit subtasks in SMD.

Finally, the top navigation bar is fully editable.  You can add or subtract Simpleology links, plus you can add your own lists or any key URLs to sites you frequently need to get your tasks done each day.   Big help here!

The only disappointment for me (I assume this will be worked on in the future) is that it appeared to me that you cannot add reminder dates to items sent to “Do Later.”  I suspect that this feature will return or I may have just missed it.  Also, I’ve always wanted to be able to add “Observations” of Time, Money & Energy powers on the fly and that’s never been addressed.  With the de-emphasis on the training, this may not be a priority, but I know the more I focus on the things I do (and don’t) do well, the more I improve.

Bottom line… you’re in for a treat with 4.0.  It takes a little to get used to, but I know I’ll be going through Start My Day much more rapidly tomorrow morning than I did this morning!

    • Sean Patrick Simpson says:

@AugustineIacopelli Agreed with Augustine, just hopped into Simpleology 4.0 to have a dive and look around…

The features are killer. Really great stuff in there for everyone. I think the key to realize when hopping in is that there is SO MUCH useful stuff that you’ve really gotta take a moment to explore and get to know to see how it’s going to positively apply to your life.

Simpleology 4.0 is something you’ve all gotta try and play with – no doubt this is going to make people a hell of a lot more productive!

    • Mark Jones says:

@AugustineIacopelli You can add reminder dates during the Start My Day process after you’ve selected “Do Later” during the Decide step.

    • Mark Jones says:

@AugustineIacopelli. Reminder dates for stuff sent to “Do Later” are only set during the Start My Day process as far as I can tell.

    • @AugustineIacopelli Great feedback, Augustine.  We’ve been compiling everyone’s feedback and plotting the next major round of improvements already.   The next phases of development are going to tie it all together in some super useful ways.

Just dove in today on Simpleology 4.0.  All I can saw is Wow.  The interface is much improved.  The flow and features are amazing.  I love the fact that I can schedule things to my Google calendar directly inside the system.  Just a pop up and save to get it there.

It has been a while since I used Simpleology.  (I hate to say my life got too complex and I faded away from using it.).   Now I am back on the bandwagon to simplify my life and supercharge my results.  Call it my New Years Resolution (gotta get it done before the Mayan calendar explodes ya know).Just hover over items and things will pop up to take action on different items.  It is very clean and user friendly.  It is very different than the old system in how you interact with it so take some time to adjust to it.  Like all good things in life you get the best out of it when you play with it.  See what it can do and how you can break it :)

    Awesome…need..invite!

  31. Entregreeneur says:

Hi Mark, team, members, Google Calendar task scheduling integration, woot! at last!!

That was one of my first items of feedback when I first really go into Simpleology about 6 or 7 years ago… so it’s true, good things do come to those who wait! :-)

I would say the lack of calendar scheduling has been the single biggest stumbling block for me not adopting to Simpleology as the foundation of my daily planning for years, although I have returned and stuck in as a paying customer, just waiting for the day…

Having to copy and paste from Simpleology into a calendar manually was always too dispiriting to stick with for long, so glad to know this is now in place in 4.0.

Thanks @MarkJoyner for continuing to improve on what has long been a unique offering with huge potential to go from quirky, cool and funky to truly excellent!

Now all I need is to be on the next invite list!

  32. Mike_MMA says:

    Hey Mark,

Just saw the video and… I have to get in ASAP! The new interface looks absolutely amazing (from the few things I saw in the video <3 very well made btw.)!

Is there still a seat for the next 10.000? :P

I’m really looking forward to receive the invitation! Comments below here make me starve….
    be happy!

  34. MattDetrick says:

After having been “on the inside” for a little over a week, I have to say I’m really digging the new interface. Of course, like with all change I was a little freaked out at having to relearn a new system. Lemme tell ya, as always these guys deliver on their promise for simplifying an existing system. I was most pleased with the very simple interface, so, instead of thinking about where everything is and what to click on next, I can focus that energy right into creative inspiration.

Two of my most favorite features are habit builders (and even an option to model success by a famous person I”m sure you’d know) and their system for prioritizing my daily actions. I’ve come to learn it’s NOT about how many things I have to do in a day. (the concept of “being busy)

My paradigm has shifted to “what actions can I take that are simple to implement yet have a giant impact on my results.” Simpleology 4.0 has reinforced that valuable lesson.

Realizing instead of thinking I have to take a bunch of small steps, I can take the giant leap simply making sure I’m best set up for my desired outcome.

Thanks Simpleology. You definitely rock at simplifying my life!

  35. JohnStringer says:

OK.  Simply loving the new Simpleology 4.0! After testing for a little over two weeks, I’m glad to report that it ROCKS!Here’s a short list of the things I love so far:1. Love the overall new UI design / style (intuitive interface)2. Love that I can select “Done” on older items while going through “Start my Day” 3. Love the “overlay” icons feature that give me the ability to delegate, schedule, etc. even after I already completed ”Start my Day” (makes it easier to  deal with new tasks as they arise – immediately).  4. Love the new features…. like being able to schedule items directly into my calendar of choice, setting reminders, and the new checklist/sub-task feature … all GOLDEN!!!!

    • @JohnStringer Thanks, John!  We’re going to be rolling out even more improvements hard and fast in the new year.  BTW, we’re mulling over your private feedback as well and will be responding shortly.  So many requests to factor in!

  36. bridget_mamma says:

Hi Mark, I am a big fan, more like a huge huge fan of Simpleology and of yours but I have to say that the new Simpleology does not look simple. I understand that you have tried to make it efficient but what i used to love about Simpleology is that it simplified my life, my day and my tasks but now I find that there are so many buttons and it is taking me time to ‘Start my day’ that I have to honestly say that Ii have not used Simpleology since I upgraded to 4.0. I have taken out time to write this because I really care about you and your work. It saved my sanity for over 3 years since I discovered it in 2009. If I am  the only one who has this problem then it is ok. Just wanted to let you know

    • @bridget_mamma Hey Bridget, thanks for the honest feedback.  You’re definitely in the minority – BUT – we do have some stuff planned to make it much much easier to use and learn.  It’s never easy to adapt to a new platform, but it’s so worth it in this case.  Once you see how much easier things are once you learn how it operates I think you’ll be a convert.  Meanwhile, please hang in there as more help is on the way.

  37. Mark Jones says:

When setting reminders during the decide step, can the task be automatically put into the “Do Later” bucket, rather than having to click the “Do Later” button after? I can’t see a reason why people would set a reminder and then be wanting to do anything else other than put it in “Do Later”. Thanks Mark.

  38. JeffKeller says:

Hey guys, I came in on simpelology last year and haven’t really used it much. Now it’s changed and I need a complete detailed walk through. 4.0 Probably is much better but without a template to restart me on the right track, it’s only more work to distract me. Any suggestions?

    • @JeffKeller Hey Jeff, help is on the way.  Soon we’ll release something much better than a walk-through.  Meanwhile, have you seen the video showing what’s new?  That will help you get up and running quickly.
