Notes …

1.  The grand opening of the Simpleology Project Marketplace will begin on October 21st, 2014.  We’ll open it to 10,000 users at a time until we’re confident it’s stable and then we’ll open it to the general public.

2.  The price of your Simpleology Projects will be set by you.  The only rule:  $2.99 minimum.

So where does this leave us?

You know Simpleology is about to make a hard pivot and completely reinvent itself.

You know that this change came about after observing that technology often makes our lives more difficult and that free access to information is changing our lives in unexpected – and not always positive – ways.

But there’s a lot more to this conversation. These developments have caused us to re-think every other aspect of our business as well.

We’ve changed the way we do marketing.

We’ve changed the way we manage our operations.

We’ve changed the way we develop software.

Literally every single aspect of our business has been re-imagined.

In our quest to reinvent ourselves we have learned much.  We have also wasted quite a bit of time, energy, and money on outmoded business advice that just does not work anymore.  Oh let me tell you … the line of consultants ready to teach you nonsense (and ask you to pay through the nose for it) is long.   And we are not alone in this observation.  We are now part of a group of world class entrepreneurs assembled to rise up against the nonsense.

We call this “The Mutiny Project” or “Mutiny” for short.

kai zen - Japanese for “continuous improvement”

Kankyo Kaizen then is the continuous improvement of one’s surroundings in order to improve quality of life.

Let’s call these quality of life improvements “Kankyo Kaizen hacks.”

These hacks can solve problems …

… change behavior …

… reduce the waste of time and materials …

… or simply improve aesthetic appearances.

And they don’t have to be big or expensive.  They don’t even have to take much time.  In the spirit of kaizen, they should be small … and gradual … but constant.  Tiny changes each day can add up to radical improvement over time.

What if you, and the people who share space with you, started making these tiny changes as a habit?

What would happen at the end of a week?  Or a month?  Or a year?  And what would happen if other groups of people, inspired by the changes you made, started doing the same?

That’s the Kankyo Kaizen movement.

Good question. Inspired by CERN’s discovery last week that faster-than-light motion is possible, we have decided to break the Simpleology-barrier and make you even faster than before.

Let’s break it down …

The Wimiki

What does it do?

First, it brings Simpleology to your Windows or Mac desktop.

You can access your Daily Targets … Drop items into the Dream Catcher … Stuff like that. It’s not meant to replace Simpleology on the web (you still do “Start My Day” on the web), but rather to extend it and enhance it.

Next, it adds two new productivity-boosting tools to your arsenal:

• Alarms

  These are simple alarms to remind you of things throughout your day. These aren’t meant as a replacement for your calendar, but rather to remind you to perform good habits.

• Routines

  Many people find that they work best when they break up their work into “sprints” of varying lengths of time with short breaks in between. During those breaks, it’s often useful to do things to maintain your health – like drink water, get up and stretch, do some brain exercise, etc …

Because everyone is different, Wimiki is totally customizable to suit your situation. You want 30 minute work sprints and 5 minute breaks where you drink water? You got it. You want 50 minute work sprints and 10 minute breaks where you watch your favorite Bruce Lee clip for motivation? You can do that, too. It’s all up to you.

Why should we care?

Because we are our habits. Little by little, the way we spend our time defines who we are. We don’t see it in the moment, but when we look back on years of our lives, we can see that the way we spent our time determined who are we right now.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to get in control of that process to determine who we’ll be in the future?

It’s one thing to say “change your habits” but how?

A coach wouldn’t hurt.

No, not the “I took a two day course in life coaching” sorta coach …

But the real kind …

No, nothing can replace a real coach with real credibility and conscientious tough love. But those guys are tough to find.

Is Wimiki the next best thing? Well, it’s software. It will stay on you. The motivation has to come from you. Sorry, there’s no way around that. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not telling you the truth. But sometimes a little nudge from time to time can make all the difference.
